2009 Women in Engineering Day

Each November, the College of Engineering at the University of Idaho invites female high school students to participate in Women in Engineering Day!

The goal of the program is to encourage pre-college women to consider careers in engineering or computer science. Women in Engineering Day participants show an aptitude and interest in majoring in technical fields, and excel in school. This workshop provides the opportunity for students to explore future career possibilities through hands-on activities, exposure to current engineering students, faculty, and professionals, as well as interaction with specific engineering disciplines. The program also includes activities for parents and teachers who are interested in learning new ways to teach young women about engineering.

High school teachers and counselors may nominate as many young women, grades 10-12, as they choose. Fill out a nomination form for each applicant and include a letter of recommendation. If you are nominating several students, you may write a single letter of recommendation, but please tell us a little about each student and your reasons for selecting her. Also, include a letter from each nominee explaining why she wishes to participate in Women in Engineering Day.
