Frequently Asked Questions

What will I need to bring?

Please bring your swimsuit, tennis shoes, some "grubbies" (for the Saturday field trip and picnic), and clothes for other social activities.

Previous Idaho JEMS Summer Workshop participants suggest you bring: bed linens, towels, pillow, soap (and other personal toiletries), an iron (ironing board is furnished), hangers, a fan (dorm rooms may not be air conditioned), an alarm clock, a radio, a notebook, pencils/pens, calculator (to use during classes), extra money, mending materials, and laundry soap (coin-operated laundry facilities are available). You are responsible for valuables left in the residence hall rooms. We suggest that you do not bring valuable jewelry, stereo equipment, etc.

What kind of design project will we be doing?

Past projects have included robotics, alternative energies, microcontrollers, turbines, trebuchets and rockets.

What kinds of scholarship opportunities are available?

Scholarship money is available to encourage female and minority students to apply, as well as provide an opportunity for students who otherwise would not be able to attend.

Financial aid will be awarded based on information gathered on your application. Please have your parent or guardian fill out section three of the application to be considered for financial aid.
