With the Jake™ Platform, Strong is using technology to revolutionize the world of the military foot soldier. Jake™ is a 3,000 pound carrier of a 2,000 pound payload that provides new opportunities and agility in military applications, while innovations found here are also directed at advancing outdoor independence for the disabled community. Early in his career as a leader in the research and development field at New Holland, an industry leader in farming and construction equipment, Strong significantly impacted the design and usability of rotary combine harvesters in the 1980's. In the early '90s, Strong founded Integrated Vision and was awarded a worldwide contract for styling for the merged Ford, New Holland and FIAT tractor lines and created the global look and design of New Holland by combining engineering and styling within a team approach. His client work grew to cover major programs at Caterpillar, John Deere, CNH Global, AgChem and Fiat-Hitachi, among others. Strong, a '76 agricultural engineering graduate of the University of Idaho, College of Engineering, holds over 50 patents and excels in engineering, ergonomics, styling and team dynamics. As a proud alumnus, Strong credits the experience he gained at the University of Idaho with giving him the foundation he needed to succeed in a broad design and management career, and prepare him for his current career, as head of a defense program that will likely transform a major sector of military capabilities. Strong's engineering and leadership skills have lead to the success of over 40 industry-leading programs. Winner of the 2002 Business Week/ IDSA Gold Medal for Vehicle Design, Strong draws from his years of global customer interface and resource networking in tackling his latest challenge: impacting military and homeland security. Russ Strong is a registered Professional Engineer in mechanical engineering, and a member of IDSA, SAE, and is also a noted seminar and motivational speaker.
