Each year, the College of Engineering presents the Idaho Engineering Design EXPO, a signature event of the university that exhibits the innovative teamwork of senior engineering students. This year, students of all ages are invited to learn more about the innovative projects being completed at the University of Idaho. By attending EXPO, you have the unique opportunity to explore and interact with University of Idaho College of Engineering graduate and undergraduate students and get a hands-on look into the world of math, science, and engineering. We are looking for the brightest, most enthusiastic groups of students to join us for this event. Are you someone who is full of questions and looking for hands-on projects to test what you're learning in class? Or maybe you belong to an extracurricular club who is crazy about science? The EXPO Innovators program is the perfect opportunity to experience math and science out of the classroom. You'll have so much fun; you won't realize you're learning! Here are a few of the activities you can look forward to as an EXPO Innovator:
Engineering EXPO Passport of Innovations EXPO Innovators will be given a passport and guide to many of the exciting projects our senior design students have completed in the past year. Prizes will be awarded during the Vandal Robotics Challenge Award Ceremony for the students who visit the most booths.
Engineering Department Open Houses EXPO Innovators will have the opportunity to tour engineering labs operated by students and faculty from each of our engineering departments. Hands-on activities, exciting demonstrations, and question and answer sessions will provide in-depth information about the possibilities within our degree options. Key Note Speaker: Russell Strong After a full day of experiencing all the new technologies being uncovered at the University of Idaho, it'll be a challenge not to feel inspired to pursue a career in engineering! To deepen that appreciation for math and science, EXPO Innovators will be invited to attend a motivational presentation by Idaho Engineering alumnus Russ Strong. All EXPO Innovators have the opportunity to attend or participate in the Vandal Robotics Challenge, a robotics competition unique to the University of Idaho! Like most Idaho students, Robo-Vandal has a busy schedule. Between classes, a job, and extracurricular activities, Robo-Vandal has to run all over campus before the day is done! Each robotic student creates their own "itinerary" of tasks to complete before heading to the Kibbie Dome to watch the big game!
The competition consists of four events: Campus Adventure, Sumo Showdown, Balloon Raid, and a bonus round of Vandal Freeze Tag! If you would like to create a team, please register online today!
*Robotics Kits must be returned to the College of Engineering at the end of the competition. Teams will be held responsible for damaged and missing kits. |
