Q: What is engineering?
A: Engineering combines math, science, and the latest innovations to solve problems, develop products, and build infrastructure that serves people.
Q: Is engineering for me?
A: If you're a creative thinker who enjoys math, science, and solving problems, it just might be. To be successful, you also have to be willing to work hard.
Q: What does accredited mean?
A: The undergraduate programs in the College of Engineering at the University of Idaho are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). This is vital because ABET-accreditation is universally recognized by employers and academia. So our graduates are recognized as true engineers and command higher salaries.
Q: Who hires from the College of Engineering ?
A: The short answer is: nearly every company! Our placement record speaks for itself. University of Idaho engineering graduates are working at Micron®, Microsoft®, Netscape®, Intel®, Bechtel, Lockheed-Martin™, Sun Computers®, NASA, IBM®, Disney®, Washington Group International, Hewlett-Packard® and Boeing®, just to name a few. Many graduates use their engineering degree as a foundation for law school or to pursue graduate education.

Q: What classes might best prepare me for engineering?
A: In general, classes like biology, chemistry, physics, pre-calculus, calculus and statistics all offer a solid background.

Q: Do you offer many scholarships?
A: Yes. You might receive scholarship money from any of these sources:
- The University of Idaho
- The College of Engineering
- Specific departments in the College of Engineering
You do not have to apply for College of Engineering scholarships separately from UI scholarships. One application will cover all University, College of Engineering and departmental scholarships. The priority date for applications is February 15.
