Moved to Massachusetts in 1985 to work for Hewlett-Packard® Medical Products Group as a development engineer. Worked on patient monitors for two years and the remainder of the time on cardiac ultrasound systems in positions of designer or project leader. In 2000, took a position with Agilent Technologies as an Application Engineer working directly with customers. I particularly enjoyed this position, but as the telecom business wound down in 2002, it took the contract manufacturers with it, and equipment sellers as well. I could see our sales start to diminish, so left to take a position with a startup company developing a stroke therapy device. We developed the prototypes and IP, and conducted experimental clinical trials in Germany. Unfortunately, funding ran out for us just about a year later, so we were forced to close up shop. I would recommend to anyone a stint at a startup. You find out just how much you know, the value of your non-analytical design judgment, and your decision-making ability. A great experience. My next position was with Philips Medical working to develop a 3D transesophogeal imaging device. In 2004, left to become Engineering Manager at my current company, and succeeded in pulling together a foundering project to completion, clinical trials, and market approval by FDA.
