For over 100 years the College of Engineering at the University of Idaho has been providing exceptional learning and research opportunities for students from Idaho and around the world. For spring 2008 the average Fundamentals of Engineering score for our students was 94 percent, and the national average was 78 percent. At Idaho we have one of the leading engineering programs in the Northwest. The quality education our students receive here shows in a number of different ways including our student's scores on the national Fundamentals of Engineering exam. We also have world class research facilities and professors who are working on a wide range of cutting edge research.
There are seven departments in the College of Engineering:
An engineering undergraduate degree at Idaho involves learning the fundamentals of engineering for your first two years, and then for your junior and senior years you will work with hands-on learning and research that gives you experience in engineering design, including a senior capstone design project, where you will pair with an industry partner to solve problems and create solutions. We are dedicated to our student's success, and we know that one on one interaction with faculty is important. At the College of Engineering the average faculty to student ratio for fall 2008 is 15 students to 1 faculty member. Our faculty are also advisors of our student organizations and groups, as well as being available for office hours and individual appointments. For fall 2008 there are 1,200 undergraduate students, 280 master's degree students and 65 doctoral degree students at the College of Engineering.
