National Institute for Advanced Transportation Technology Selects Student of the Year

Guillermo Madrigal NIATT student of the Year and Michael Kyte, NIATT Director, at the Council of University Transportation Centers banquet this month at the 87th Annual Transportation Research Board meeting in Washington, DC. For the merit of research, academic performance and exceptional professionalism and leadership, the National Institute for Advanced Transportation Technology selected Guillermo Madrigal as its 2007 Outstanding Student of the Year

Guillermo was honored at the Council of University Transportation Centers banquet at the 87th Annual Transportation Research Board meeting in Washington, DC earlier this month.

Guillermo is conducting his graduate research work under Dr. Michael Dixon, focusing on how cycle failure can be used as a performance measure. He shows an exceptional ability to help other students get up to speed with research and modeling techniques. Several University of Idaho faculty also attended the Transportation Research Board meeting which brought nearly 10,000 international transportation professionals for a variety of presentations. Idaho Professors Michael Kyte, Michael P. Dixon, Ahmed Abdel-Rahim, Paul Oman, and Brian K. Johnson, along with graduate assistants Vidyut Nayak and Ybette Ochoa-Huaman, presented three papers on NIATT's research on traffic signal operations and improvements to transportation networks.
